Why a Single Contractor for Multiple Utility Types Matters in an Emergency

Most underground utility emergencies involve more than one utility type or more than one access challenge. A contractor strike might damage both a gas service and a conduit in the same trench. A water main break might also compromise the sewer main that runs in parallel with it. A trench excavation might reveal multiple undocumented utilities that need to be identified, assessed and protected before the target utility can be reached.

Having a contractor with full capability across all underground utility types means one call, one crew, one mobilization and a coordinated plan. You do not need to wait for a plumber to finish before a boring contractor can start. You do not need to manage the sequence between two separate specialty contractors who do not know each other’s work or schedules. We handle the complete underground portion of most utility emergencies.

Complete Underground Emergency Service Coverage

Horizontal Directional Drilling

HDD is our primary trenchless method for emergency utility restoration. We bore under roads, driveways, structures and landscaped areas to install replacement or bypass utility runs without surface disruption. Available 24/7 for all utility types.

Hydrovac Excavation and Daylighting

Safe utility exposure using pressurized water and vacuum. The first step in any emergency where the utility location or condition needs to be confirmed before boring or open-cut excavation begins. Protects all adjacent utilities from strike risk.

Open Cut Trenching

When trenchless methods are not the right fit, we deploy our trenching equipment for direct utility access. Proper shoring, OSHA compliance, engineered backfill and surface restoration on every job.

Gas Line Boring and Bypass

After utility isolation confirms the area is safe, we bore replacement or bypass paths for gas service lines using PE service tubing sized to the utility specification.

Water Main and Service Line Restoration

Main break support, hydrovac access, trenchless service line replacement, and AWWA-compliant pipe installation for water utility emergency work.

Sewer Line Access and Bypass

Open-cut access, trenchless bypass boring, and hydrovac exposure for collapsed or failed sewer lines. Public health situations get maximum urgency response.

Electrical Conduit Replacement

Emergency conduit boring under pavement and structures so electrical contractors can pull wire and restore power without waiting for pavement demolition and restoration.

Fiber and Telecom Conduit

Emergency conduit installation for fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure restoration. We work alongside carriers and ISPs to minimize communications downtime.

The Underground Infrastructure That Oklahoma Depends On

Oklahoma has a dense network of underground infrastructure that most people never think about until something fails. Natural gas distribution mains serving residential and commercial customers across every community in the state. Water distribution systems ranging from large municipal mains to small rural water district lines. Sewer collection systems under city streets and in utility easements behind residential lots. Electrical distribution and transmission conduit. Fiber optic networks carrying internet, telephone and data communications. All of it runs underground and all of it is subject to failure.

The failure causes are consistent: aging infrastructure, ground movement, construction strikes, root intrusion, corrosion and soil chemistry. None of these causes respect schedules or business hours. When they cause a failure, the infrastructure owner needs a contractor who can respond immediately with the right tools and the knowledge to diagnose and repair the specific situation. That is the service we provide.

Service Area: Oklahoma Underground Emergency Coverage

We serve all of central Oklahoma from our base in Yukon. The OKC metro is our primary response zone including Oklahoma City, Edmond, Yukon, Mustang, Bethany, Warr Acres, Midwest City, Moore, Norman, Del City and Newcastle. We also serve Tulsa, Stillwater, Lawton, Enid, Shawnee, Ardmore and communities throughout the state for emergency work. Distance increases response time and we are honest about that, but it does not limit our willingness to respond.

For emergency work outside our primary zone, we ask that you call early. Longer drives mean we need more lead time to reach you, and calling us as soon as you know you have an emergency gives us the best chance to be there when you need us.

Frequently Asked Questions: Underground Emergency Services

What underground utility types can Trinity Boring Solutions handle in an emergency?

We handle emergency boring, trenching and hydrovac excavation for gas service lines, water service lines and mains, sewer service lines and mains, electrical conduit, fiber optic conduit, and telecommunications conduit. We provide the civil underground work. The utility-specific connections, testing and restoration of service is coordinated with the relevant trade contractor or utility provider.

How deep underground can you work for emergency utility access?

Most utility service lines are buried at depths ranging from 18 inches to 5 feet. Municipal mains are often deeper. Our HDD equipment can bore at any practical depth required for utility installation in Oklahoma. Our trenching equipment can excavate to 12 feet or more with appropriate shoring. For very deep utilities, we discuss the access method and shoring requirements before beginning work.

Do you handle underground emergencies for both private property and public right-of-way?

Yes. Private property, public right-of-way, utility easements, commercial properties and industrial facilities are all within our scope. The permit requirements and notification procedures differ between private and public work and we handle both appropriately. Private property work typically moves faster because fewer external approvals are needed to begin work.

What is the most common underground emergency you respond to in Oklahoma?

Water service line failures and gas service strikes are the two most common emergency calls we receive. Water line failures under driveways are extremely common in central Oklahoma because of the combination of clay soil movement, aging polyethylene service lines that have been in the ground since the 1970s and 1980s, and the high volume of directional boring activity that can disturb service lines in congested utility corridors. Gas service strikes during landscaping and irrigation installation are equally common in residential areas.

Can you handle an emergency where the utility location is completely unknown?

Yes, but the timeline is affected by how long it takes to locate the utility. We use 811 emergency locate requests, ground penetrating radar, and our own crew’s experience with how utilities are typically routed in different Oklahoma neighborhoods and development periods to identify likely utility locations. Once we confirm the location, work proceeds normally. We will not bore into an area without reasonable confidence about what is below.

What is the largest bore diameter you can install for emergency underground work?

This depends on the rig we deploy. Our largest machines can pull product pipe in the range of 8 to 12 inches in diameter for appropriate bore lengths and soil conditions. For emergency work requiring large diameter pipe, we discuss the bore parameters with you when you call and confirm which machine is right for the scope before mobilizing.

Do you provide underground emergency services for government and military facilities?

Yes. We have experience working on projects that serve government facilities and are familiar with the access, documentation and security requirements that government work often involves. If your emergency involves a federal or state government facility, let us know when you call so we can discuss any site access requirements that will affect our response.

Can you mobilize multiple crews for a large-scale underground emergency?

Yes. For major utility emergencies that require more than one crew or more than one piece of equipment simultaneously, we can mobilize multiple teams. Our equipment inventory includes multiple HDD rigs of different sizes along with hydrovac and trenching equipment. Larger emergency mobilizations are discussed on the initial call and we confirm resource availability and timing before committing to the full scope.

What is the most important thing to communicate when calling about an underground emergency?

The most important information is what you are seeing right now and what the address is. Everything else we can work out from those two pieces of information. Is there water flowing? Gas smell present? Power out? Sewage surfacing? Active construction that caused a strike? Tell us what you see and where and we start the response from there.

Does Trinity Boring Solutions provide after-hours and weekend emergency coverage for HOAs and property management companies?

Yes. We work with HOAs and property management companies that need reliable after-hours emergency utility coverage. Establishing a relationship before an emergency happens means faster response when one does occur because we already know your properties and the contact chain.
