Water utility directional boring installs potable water lines underground along a predetermined bore path — under roads, creeks, driveways, and finished neighborhoods — without the open trench. From 1-inch service tubing to 12-inch HDPE mains, the pipe goes in clean: fused or restrained-joint pipe pulled through a bore sized and reamed for the diameter, with tracer wire for locating.

How Do We Bore Water Supply & Distribution Systems?

Distribution mains crossing highways and section roads are the classic water bore. We install fused HDPE and restrained-joint PVC by pullback, and steel casings at ODOT, TxDOT, county, and railroad crossings with the carrier pulled through inside. Rural water districts use us to cross roads and creeks on line extensions where open cut is not allowed or not practical — including long crossings measured in the hundreds of feet.

What About Commercial Water Services?

Fire lines and domestic services into commercial sites usually arrive after the parking lot is paved. Boring puts a 4-inch to 8-inch fire line under the lot from the main to the riser room without cutting pavement, keeping both the fire marshal and the property owner satisfied. We coordinate tie-in points with the mechanical contractor and pothole the main before the bore.

Service replacements in established yards are where homeowners actually see the difference: two small pits and a new service line instead of a trench through the landscaping. Plumbers and service contractors subcontract these bores to us daily.

What pipe do you pull for water bores?

Fused HDPE is the workhorse; restrained-joint PVC also pulls well on straighter shots. Both go in with tracer wire so the line stays locatable.

How deep are water lines bored?

Below frost depth and per the utility standard — typically 30 to 48 inches of cover in Oklahoma and Texas, deeper at permitted crossings.

Can you bore under a creek or pond for a water district?

Yes. Water crossings are a standard HDD application — the bore passes beneath the channel with cover set by the crossing design, and the surface is never touched.

Is bored water pipe safe for drinking water?

Yes. The same NSF-rated potable pipe used in open trench installs is pulled through the bore, pressure-tested, and disinfected to AWWA standards before going in service.
